1972 911S 2.4 Targa

- 2.4S Targa with Oilflap
- 1 of 989 Worldwide
- Matching Numbers

Few classic 911s enjoy a reputation among enthusiasts quite like the Oil Flap Targa from model year 1972 – considered by many the holy grail of the early 911 series.
Our 2.4 S, one of only 989 built, was delivered on May 19, 1972, and still features its original color combination of Blood Orange (018) over black leather.
It shows a recorded mileage of just 14,375 km and retains its matching numbers. The professionally overhauled 190-hp engine is in near-new condition.
Although the car was already in excellent shape, we at PS Automobile disassembled, media-blasted, repainted, and rebuilt all suspension components with new bearings and shock absorbers – to ensure the next owner receives a perfectly presented, worry-free, collector-grade Targa ready to drive.
A Nardi leather steering wheel and Halda Twin-Master add tasteful, period-correct touches.

The 911 2.4 S Targa from the 1972 model year marks a special moment in the history of the F-model: the side-mounted oil filler flap was used exclusively in this year, making the “Oil Flap Targa” a highly sought-after collector’s piece today.
In total, only 989 examples were produced.

The vehicle on offer was first registered on May 19, 1972, and is finished in Blood Orange (018) with a black leather interior – a combination that timelessly highlights its clean, iconic design.
All major components feature matching numbers, and the professionally overhauled 190-hp engine presents itself in near-new condition, both technically and visually.
At the time, it enabled a top speed of around 230 km/h, placing the 911 S among the fastest production 911s of the early 1970s.

Although the vehicle already presented itself in excellent original condition, we at PS Automobile proactively refined the entire suspension system: control arms, struts, and brake mounts were disassembled, media-blasted, newly coated, and rebuilt with all-new bearings, bushings, and shock absorbers.
The result is a Targa that drives every bit as precisely as it looks – fully road-ready and worry-free.
Inside, period-correct details such as the Nardi leather steering wheel and the Halda rally timer “Twin Master” add stylish accents, while original Fuchs wheels, clean panel gaps, and a preserved underbody further emphasize the vehicle’s exceptional care and condition.
Rarity, documented history, and freshly optimized mechanicals come together in this high-quality opportunity for enthusiasts seeking authenticity, driving pleasure, and long-term value – all in one car.
