The Porsche 356 SC Race/Rally Coupé offered here from 1963 combines the allure of the final and most powerful 356 model with a complete restoration to modern motorsport standards. In the same ownership since 1999 and fully rebuilt “frame off” in 2017, the car has not been raced since the restoration. The upgraded 1.6-liter flat-four now produces 130 hp and is both street legal and race-ready, with H-registration and FIA papers for international competition. A full roll cage, Recaro racing seats, 6-point harnesses, and an FIA-compliant safety fuel tank are all in place—making this 356 ready for circuit racing, hill climbs, or fast B-road driving.
The Porsche 356 is considered one of the true icons of historic motorsport—especially the late SC models, which are regarded as the pinnacle of the Type 356's evolution. Equipped with disc brakes, an improved crankshaft, and a higher-compression 1.6-liter flat-four engine, the 356 SC already offered the sportiest driving experience of the series back in 1963—traits that continue to make it a top choice today for series such as the Historic 356 Cup.
Our car left the factory in 1963 as an SC Coupé, entered its current private ownership in 1999, and underwent a no-expense-spared restoration in 2016/17—completely stripped to bare metal, refinished, and rebuilt from the ground up. During the process, the air-cooled four-cylinder engine received a careful performance upgrade to around 130 hp. A well-matched 4-speed gearbox remains fitted, while a close-ratio spare set for hill climb events is included.
Safety and motorsport readiness are ensured by a roll cage, Recaro racing seats with 6-point harnesses, an electronic rev limiter, and the mandatory FIA-compliant safety fuel tank. Rally equipment includes an original RetroTrip Twin-Master, ideal for regularity and endurance stages. The car remains road legal with historic (H) registration, maintaining everyday usability. A valid FIA/DMSB HTP (Historic Technical Passport) allows entry into historic motorsport events on both national and international stages.
Since the completion of the restoration, the coupé has only been driven carefully and has not seen any further racing use—bodywork, mechanicals, and underbody all present in accordingly fresh condition. In addition to a complete archive of photos and invoices, the car comes with its certificate of original delivery; service records dating back to 1999 complete the documented history.
