Porsche 911 S

  • Early 1967 Porsche 911 S
  • Engine rebuilt at a cost of around €80,000
  • Sports seats, roll bar, 4-point harnesses, etc.

This Porsche 911 S is a 1967 model-year example and therefore one of the earliest cars from the sporting S series. With its very early chassis number 306027, original delivery through the renowned Glöckler dealership in Frankfurt and its authentic, competition-inspired specification, the car boasts a particularly fascinating history.

A major highlight is the recently fully rebuilt Type 901/02 engine. Nearly €80,000 was invested in the comprehensive engine rebuild. The latest dyno sheet records an output of 168 hp at a relatively conservative 6,500 rpm.

Particularly noteworthy is the rare factory-fitted auxiliary temperature gauge, positioned on the left-hand side of the dashboard next to the ignition switch. The car’s sporting character is further enhanced by a period-correct roll bar, a Halda Twinmaster and two subsequently fitted original racing seats with Pepita centre panels. The original seats are also still present.

Today, the Porsche presents in period-correct white and retains the character of a restoration completed several years ago. As a result, the car feels neither sterile nor over-restored, but instead offers an authentic and classic overall appearance. A fascinating early 911 S, ideally suited to historic rallies, spirited touring and a discerning collection.

The Porsche 911 S offered here is a 1967 model-year example and therefore one of the earliest S models ever produced. These cars marked the beginning of a distinctly performance-focused model line at Porsche, one that would have a lasting influence on the character of the 911. From an early stage, ambitious drivers recognised the potential of the 911 S for rallying, endurance events and competition use.

This car carries the very early chassis number 306027 and was originally delivered through the renowned Glöckler dealership in Frankfurt. Glöckler already had close ties to motorsport at the time and entered numerous cars in competition. During the course of its life, the Porsche spent a period in Italy and has now been back in Germany for several years.

The car is powered by a Type 901/02 engine. When originally delivered, it was fitted with engine number 961718. The original engine was replaced during the course of the car’s life, and it is currently fitted with engine number 961115.

This engine was only recently completely rebuilt by a renowned German specialist for classic Porsche engines. Nearly €80,000 was invested in the rebuild. The latest dyno sheet records an output of 168 hp at a relatively conservative 6,500 rpm. The engine therefore combines the original character of the early 911 S with a technically excellent and robust foundation for future use.

The car was originally delivered in the special-order colour Lemon Yellow, colour code R1012. Today, the Porsche is presented in period-correct white. The restoration was completed several years ago, and accordingly this is not a freshly restored car or one prepared to appear as new. Instead, it has retained an authentic character and patina that perfectly complement its history and classic appeal.

Particularly interesting is the car’s competition-oriented specification. From the factory, the 911 S was equipped with a 100-litre fuel tank. By comparison, the standard tank held only around 65 litres. This specification further underlines the car’s sporting character and was particularly advantageous for long-distance driving and competition events.

An exceptional and original detail is the rare auxiliary temperature gauge, positioned on the left-hand side of the dashboard directly next to the ignition switch. This instrument was factory-fitted to the car and represents a particularly interesting and unusual feature on an early 911 S.

The roll bar currently fitted to the car, along with the two original racing seats featuring Pepita centre panels and black leatherette bolsters, were added later in the car’s life. Thanks to their period-correct design, however, they integrate extremely authentically into the overall appearance and further emphasise the sporting character of this early 911 S without appearing modern or out of place.

This Porsche 911 S combines a very early chassis number, a fascinating delivery history, rare original equipment and a recently fully rebuilt engine. Equally at home on historic rallies and spirited drives, it would also make a highly distinctive addition to a discerning collection.
