This Porsche 911 T/E Targa 2.4 “Oil Flap” from the 1972 model year was completely rebuilt as part of an exceptionally rare and exclusive factory restoration—carried out directly at the Porsche plant in Zuffenhausen, the very place where the car originally rolled off the production line over 50 years ago.
It is a no-compromise, frame-off restoration including all components, carried out to original factory standards by Porsche Classic. The work was completed in 2019. Since then, the vehicle has covered only around 3,100 kilometers and remains in absolutely as-new condition. The cost of the Porsche factory restoration alone amounted to several hundred thousand euros—excluding the base vehicle.
Finished in the rare color Gemini Blue Metallic and delivered as a US-spec model, this vehicle represents a unique opportunity for discerning collectors. There is currently no comparable example available on the market.
Porsche factory restorations are among the rarest and most prestigious forms of vehicle restoration – not only because of their documented value, but also due to their technical and historical authenticity.
In the case of this Porsche 911 T/E Targa 2.4 “Oil Flap” from 1972, the restoration was carried out directly by Porsche Classic in Zuffenhausen – at the very site where this vehicle first rolled off the production line more than half a century ago.
The work was carried out as part of a complete frame-off restoration: the bare body shell, drivetrain, suspension, electrics, and all components were fully disassembled, meticulously restored or replaced to factory standards, and reassembled with the utmost precision according to original Porsche manufacturing specifications.
The restoration was completed in 2018 and is fully documented by Porsche Classic.
Included with the vehicle is a custom-made restoration book featuring hundreds of photos that capture every step of the rebuild – from the bare metal body to the final adjustments.
Since completion, the vehicle has covered just around 3,100 kilometers. Today, it is in a condition that matches – and in some respects even exceeds – that of a brand-new car, both technically and visually.
The restoration costs alone amounted to several hundred thousand euros, not including the base vehicle
The vehicle was originally delivered as a US-spec model and now features the color combination Gemini Blue Metallic with a black interior. Naturally, it is a matching numbers example.
All components were faithfully restored or replaced during the factory restoration by Porsche Classic, strictly following the historical factory documentation and technical specifications from Zuffenhausen.
The complete restoration documentation, including the Porsche restoration book with hundreds of photos, is included—along with the owner’s manual, tool roll, and vehicle file.
